Simple CTEK Dual Battery Setup

Hi everyone, new to the forum so please go easy on me.

I feel like I have read almost every post on here and have come close but not quite found my situation covered. I know form hours of reading that this has been done to death and in a million different ways, but here is my scenario.

Basically looking at a 100-120Ah AGM battery mounted securely in in tray of hilux with a ctek d205s dc/dc charger acting as charger and isolater (mounted in tray close to battery) inside larger battery "box/area" and accessories running of a switch panel at front of this "box", via a small fuse hub.

Also the ctek then has capacity to take a solar panel in future with limited additional works.

Use of the system would be mostly shorter long weekend trips but the odd couple of weeker each year running a 40l fridge, some camp/fishing led lights and the odd camera/phone charger, etc.

Vehicle is a 2011 Hilux SR (MY10) KUN26R with canopy. Pretty standard setup...for now.

Any thoughts on this system I've described working for this or even at all?

Exactly the same as my setup , 120a/h AGM in an Ark box in tub with C-Tek250s strapped to the box plus a 8 fuse block for accessories. ..... used to also strap this same arrangement(battery n c-tek) to the back of the passenger seat in my work van with fridge on the seat for summer! Portable dual battery system!

The only issue I can see is make sure the C-Tek250s is going to compensate when your alternator goes into sleep mode, activated when the first batt / starter batt is full.

No canopy so it's easy, just over the front of the tub near the water tanks, but a drill and rubber grommet will work also

The unit draws 20 amps from the starter battery to charge it this mean it should stick start the alternator again once it detects the draw from the starter battery

It's like drawing 20 amps for a set of spot lights

Yep Adam,
C-tek will do the job you want........but bash a solar panel up top somewhere and you'll have an almost endless energy supply...
