1kd fuel warning light keeps reoccuring??

Postby HAR095 on Sat, 19 Jul 2014 4:01 +0000

Well I've got a problem with my hilux displaying the solid fuel warning light. I've replaced filters and reset light. Driving around town is all good but I regularly travel 300ks one way and every time now after sitting on 100kph for 1hr or 1 half hrs the fuel light keeps coming back on!! Even after changing through a few filters and resetting the light multiple times!! I'm wondering what I can do!! Or if anyone else has any suggestions to try. Tried doing a bit of searching around the net but can't find anything similar.
Cheers Ryan.

Sounds stupid but its not continually getting dirty fuel from the same tank is it? The only other suggestion is replace the filter housing which will replace the sensor. Don't think theyre too expensive. If it is dirty fuel you could add a filter pre the factory one.

Hi I have just this Thursday got a 62 hilux that had the same light on , the dealer took it back to Toyota and they cleaned it out and took it for a test drive and it came back on . They swaped the lot with a new type setup , it seams to be ok now.

I had a similar problem and corrected it by disassembling the filter bowl and digging/cleaning out the crud that was on the bottom of the housing under the float. It was hard to see as the crud was as black as the housing.
