Auto locking after tapping into central locking??

Auto locking after tapping into central locking??

Postby kav on Thu, 17 Jul 2014 6:24 +0000

Hey fellas, first time to post on here, I've received plenty of help just from reading though! I'm currently in the process of installing central locking actuators in my toolboxes.. All was going well, I've located the 2 wires and run them to fuses then split them into the boxes.. I Mounted the actuators and thought id give it another test run and all works well, except for the fact that the ute now auto locks after about 30-40 seconds.. I'm figuring its got something to do with the security system, because its never done it before (even if i unlocked it and didn't open a door). Does anyone know how to stop this? Any help is appreciated, cheers!

its a factory feature to auto lock if a door isnt opened in 30-40 seconds.

Agree, it should've done it previously.

Sounds like you fixed the problem you previously had! [emoji23]

I wasn't aware of that haha! Well my only drama being is that it'll do it when the keys are in the ignition, but come to think of it I've done the ignition beeper mod so that could be why? It must not register that the keys are in..

The auto re-lock is controlled be the door open switch and nothing to do with the ignition beeper.
Is your interior light still working?
I would suggest that you have altered something there.

Like Andy said, it is controlled by the door switches. One work around may be to run door switches to your tool box and t into the rear door light switches.
If you unlock the doors then put your keys in the ignition it should be fine. It's when you unlock and don't touch a door it should lock itself again.

Yea interior light still works.. So I need to wire something in the toolbox so when I open it, it thinks I've opened a door? That just adds a whole new level to this hahah

Pretty sure he's correct though...if the key is in the ignition, the doors won't auto lock as long as the switch for the beeper is connected

Yeah, but how are you unlocking your car and putting the keys inside without opening the door???? If the door switch is working then you can't lock your keys in the car!

Yea your right mate, I didn't think about the opening the door when I first noticed it. Had the window down and just stuck them in that way. Was tripping me out at the time haha

If you're happy to open a car door every unlock then do nothing. If you want to unlock but only open your toolbox it's simple earthing switches on each door. Up to you how you use it.

Yea I'm gona rig something up so opening a toolbox will have the same effect as opening a door, that way it's not gona lock while the box is still open. Not sure how I'll go about that yet, don't know how it works. But I'll nut it out. The thing being though, if I do that then my interior light will come on when I open a toolbox.

the button on the door works buy connecting the (-)
so all you need do is fit a std one from an ear lie commodore or ford then T the wire into factory one
the bonus to this also is it will set the alarm off when the door is opened on the toolbox
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

You are right, it is possibly getting a bit messy. Convert the interior light to led maybe?
