reverse camera

so the reverse camera automatically works and activates the screen on the navigator monitor when put into reverse...

my question is, can i install a second camera facing forward which automatically activates the screen when put into 1st gear (only 1st gear)?

would it be the same install as the reverse camera but connected to the 1st gear?!

yes and no,
yes if you fit a trigger, micro switch on the gearbox, the the linkage will activate
and no if you don't

what idd do is fit a push button switch to your gear leaver, there are a more then a few different ones out there
go to google images and search "manual gear shifter knobs with nitrous button"
that way you want it on just press it
no different to putting it into 1st as you still have your hand on the stick
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

Yeah that does sound easier and better since I Can control as and when I want it on.

So the on button will activate the nav monitor will it?

You can either get a on/off or push on
And you just wire it up as the trigger for cam b it c depending in h/u

i have an arb reversing camera, with the second camera fitted to the front license plate. i engage it with the button on the rear mirror. _invalueable_ kit, imho.

just come back from toyota and they told me theres no way to add a second or third camera because there is no additional plugs in the back of the Nav System to allow for more cameras to be added? they told me the only was was to simply stick on another disaly screen to the dash and use that!!

is that even right? cant there be an adopter added or for it to be wired in?

You can use a video changer box. You also need a button and diode wired to the video trigger wire so the camera screen turns on without the reverse lights coming on. You can get the boxes on ebay cheap as chips.

Correct video changer box will be needed it's simply just a 3in1 out box, and as box head said you'll need to tap in to the trigger for the camera screen.

this is a video changer box right... http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTAwWDUwMA==/ ... Flgz0Ri5BR)tfMPmpg~~60_35.JPG

then as soon as the dash button to turn on is pushed. the camera view should turn on the nav screen yeah?
what doe the diode do?

how do u select the channel u want from the 3in1 adapter? u have to select it on the adapter itself right? change the channel then turn on the on/off button designated to that camera?
