Stebel Horn Installation / Relay?

Stebel Horn Installation / Relay?

Postby singlespeed on Tue, 22 Apr 2014 3:49 +0000

Before I order a new horn (Stebel TM80) I noticed that the "kit" includes a relay. I assume this is required? I should be able to connect the two Stebel horns directly to the two wires to the stock horn? I really don't want to wire in a relay and direct power from the battery if that's what's going to take to install. Can someone confirm if there is any reason why an additional relay would be required?

Thanks!

2 horns will draw about 11amps so using a relay would be the smart thing to do.
Cheers.

I wired mine in with a relay as the unit draws way too much current for the OEM horm wiring loom. Just splice intot the OEM horm wire to triggered the relay and get your power from the Main battery or even aux battery if you have one. There is a thread about the stebel horn which may help answer anymore questions.

Thanks all, will go with an additional relay. I posted this thread in the wrong area, my Hilux is a 2014. I thought Toyota would have already had a relay in place for the horn, it would be crazy for them wire it through the horn switch directly.
