Fuel pump stays on

Postby inluxhvn on Sun, 13 Apr 2014 6:57 +0000

My fuel pump doesn't turn off with the key. It's a 3.8 Buick conversion can anyone point me in the write direction. Faulty relay sticky ignition switch ?

Sticking relay most likely. Ignition would leave everything powered up.

The fuel pump is controlled by the oil pressure switch. On the 3.8
Disconnect the oil pressure switch and see if it turns off. If so replace the switch.

I agree but I think you'll find the key still overrides that circuit through the efi relay. Been a bit since I mucked around with the old girls and I could be wrong. Happened once.

If there's no relay in the circuit you'd overload the ecu. It's not designed to handle enough current to run the pump. Just the relay. Is it ecotec? Any idea on the commodore model?

I've came across same problem with pressure switch. But it was the engine holding oil pressure on switch.
