new glow plugs but still hard to start.

Postby Wazza73 on Thu, 12 Dec 2013 6:27 +0000

Hello people. I have an early 82 2.2 litre diesel which I have just replaced the glow plugs and still winds over for a good 3-5 seconds befor it fires. Ive stuck a test light on the glow plug wire on end of the rail and it is working fine. Could anyone shed some light on what could be the problem?

There is a little gauze filter in the bottom of the fuel inlet bango at the pump. It could be badly blocked. That's if it is still there

Had the same drama.

Ended up that the pump was shagged.

Sound like there is air getting in you system causing the fuel to run back to the tank.

I would replace you fuel filter.

Check the fuel lines for damage/leeks.

try pumping the manual pump before starting. If it is soft it probably has air.

Where the air is coming could be from the injectors back to the tank is ita a pita.
