Fitting dual battery in engine bay

Postby fabz on Tue, 21 May 2013 5:51 +0000

Just wondering if anyone has had any trouble fitting their dual battery in the engine bay, got an arb tray but remember reading somehere that if you have a snorkel installed it may not fit.

I and plenty of people run both.

Just make sure u brace the battery if its a big deel cycle it will crack the wheel arch.. mine has to be braced and weld up my wheel arch

I am tuning 2 deep cycle century overlander I think they are. What is this about cracking the wheel arch? How? Why? Where? What can I do to minimise the risk? Arb fitted it so should I rely that on them that its not going to happen?
Cheers, Stuart

If seeking more info on dual battery systems and issues can I suggest you check out
The dual batteries for dummies thread
Or
Alternator thread

Be good to keep the discussion going under one of these if you can

Got the tray mounted, going to pick up battery on Monday and put it in, just had to unplug some wires and re run them around things. Air conditioning hoses may still be in the way but will see how I go once I pick up the battery.

Think most of the replys are talking about the newer shape hilux, its posted in the pre 2005 section.

basically, heavy battery sitting on thin metal + corrugations = cracks ie. it needs bracing if you're going off-road
as suggested read the existing threads
