2012 sr5 roof console wiring

2012 sr5 roof console wiring

Postby dilkesy84 on Mon, 25 Mar 2013 9:10 +0000

Hi everyone,

I have ordered a roof console for my 2012 sr5 from the department of interior to mount my UHF and also a tranny temp guage and some map lights.
I had a search on here but could only find an outback roof console install thread.
Just wondered if anyone else has one of these and any tips for running the wiring?
Has anyone removed the a pillar trim at all with the curtain airbags fitted? I'm a bit nervous about pulling off the grab handle and removing the trim with the airbag to run my working to the console..
Cheers

I've had my trims off but for another reason mate no worries at all I just get in quick don't tough anything and do what ya gotta do and put it back together. Good luck would like done more info on your tranny temp gauge if you could tell me where you have your sender located.
Cheers and good luck.

I have one of these roof consoles and I have a UHF and a battery monitor. I ran the wires down the A pillar. There is no real problems there. You will see the airbag all rolled up and it is easy to avoid by running the wires behind.

The biggest hassle I had with the console was that the wires on the map lights was too short.

Disconnect the battery if your worried about having an air bag to the face.

I had one of these in my last car (2007) and the only pain is the interior light wires need extending. I like the vacuum finish but it starts to get expensive but looks heaps better.

I am looking to put on of these in a SR5 2012 model as was thinking of using a small radio (TX3520) and between the radio face fit in the standard map lights and sunglass holder and then put the radio box with speaker behind that with a grille.

Just toying with the idea.

Cheers for the advice fellas.
Ill definitely disconnect battery first good idea!
10lux I just got the kit in the post today it looks pretty simple just a tee piece with a sensor drilled and tapped in the centre, I will try to get it on this week and post some pictures up for you, basically the instructions just say to fit the sender in line from the tranny output hose to trans cooler inlet.
Still waiting for the roof console so I am also going to put the temp guage up there out the way with my 2way..
