Mounting a LED lightbar to the SR5 sports bar

Postby QLD_LUX on Wed, 01 Aug 2012 6:36 +0000

Hi everyone

Id like to eventually mount a LED lightbar (such as a Snake Racing or equivalent) on the sports bar of my SR5. Does anyone know if there is any sort of mounting kit available for that sort of application or is it a case of something homemade?

Cheers

Interested in doing this also. I've got a rigid industries light I purchased nearly two years ago that I haven't mounted yet. I ordered and paid for clamps to mount it on bullbar from snake and never received them. Pathetic service, got a refund eventually at least.

Dunno about buying brackets but it'd be pretty simple to make, just use a length of square tube alloy would do it

that looks nice
that said, in most of the places I drive, high mounted lights rarely get used due to oncoming traffic

I'd like to have a way to mount down low in the original fairing

Hey Weeman that looks awesome! Custom made or an off the shelf job? How much did you pay as a matter of interest?

Here is a little job i made myself...

The wire runs inside the pipe, up under the corner of the tray and through a grommet in to the back of the cab...

Hey guys, how does it go mounted on the sports bar? Do you loose any light from being blocked by the roof? Just bought a 40in and am interested to see what your thought are.

I think a 40 inch would light up the rear vision mirrors and you would block a lot if light on the roof but they put out so much it will still help up front. If you want to make the most of the light put it in a roof bar or rack up front but not too close to the windscreen as you will light it up.
I used to run spotties on the roll bar and now have a 22inch light bar on my roof rack and love it best eBay find ever.

I have a mate with a ranger with LED bar on the sports bar of a dual cab, he losses a lot of light due to the distance of the roof.. ANY OTHER THOUGHTS??

Would a 50" fit the sports bar ok? Or safer with a 42?
