Your guess is as good as mine!

Hi All,
Previous owner fitted spots and fogs. After rewiring under the bonnet (and using a proper crimper (not just a hammer) they work.
Since fitting the new headlights they've stopped. It seems to be do do with the + positive "Pickup" they've used to energize the spots relay and the fogs relay. As the column switch is switching the earth of the headlight circuit I'm just wondering where is the most "likely" place to pickup a high beam positive and a low beam positive under the dash?
This isn't really critical because I'll be rewiring this part to pickup the high and low feeders elsewhere, just wondering out of interest.
Thanks

Hey Rob, sounds like quite the puzzle — classic case of “what was the previous owner thinking?” :?

If you're just curious, I’d say check the back of the fuse box or the stalk connector block under the steering column. Sometimes there’s a decent clean +12V pickup from the high beam trigger there. If not, another sneaky option is tapping into the lighting loom behind the instrument cluster, but that can get messy quick.

Funny enough, I ran into something similar while filming a DIY install video for a mate’s fog lights — we ended up using the footage for a quick promo edit just to test some new video editing presets with some kind of intro maker. The sound of relays clicking actually made for a decent transition, who would’ve thought?

Let me know what you end up doing — curious minds, you know. :P

Olenda,
If you look at my "Brains Trust? Any Easy Way?" Post, you'll see that I used an aftermarket relay "MiniLoom" to drive the LED headlights. I tapped into this miniloom to get the triggers for the high & low beams. Much easier than ferreting around under the dash.
