Sorry for the long delay I haven't been on in a while. I'll take some pics ASAP you should see by monday. Be warned I haven't cleaned it up fully as yet. Been so busy, so its not as pretty as it should be as far as details are concerned.

Isn't pretty but gets the job done. I wish I got a genuine hilux or patrol scoop. I'd still like to get a spigot to seal between the bonnet and intercooler though.
Some cleanup of the fitment and cuts are yet to be done. I also plan to colour match the scoop.

Tunit Chip is in!

So I got me a Tunit chip today.... :mrgreen:

Yes I am satisfied! The gains are immediately noticeable. Now i am looking forward to see how it does on fuel economy once i can get used to it and drive like normal instead of flooring it while giggling.

I also installed an Auber EGT yesterday. Its temporarily mounted on top the steering wheel. I find it too bright at night even when on dim. I will be putting it in place of the factory clock (unless someone has a better suggestion?). the alarm is set at 500 degrees C for the time being.

Future plans include a custom dump and exhaust (debating diamiter), and in a year or two I am thinking of the Blazeland long travel kit: http://www.blazeland.us/

Did fitting the balljoint spacers decrease the cv angle?

The angles increased, but no problems as a result. I leave the hubs unlocked as extra insurance on the highway (even though the angles aren't extreme on the highway). No issues here after 20 months.

So after fitting the Tunit chip and EGT gauge I played with the dial on the chip a little. Had it on 7 but moved it back to 5 as it came. I find at 5 the power and economy are best. Economy has improved on highway driving for sure. Mileage is down to just under 11L/100KM. City economy is just about the same, no worse - as the Tunit comes on at just about 1700RPM which I don't do much around town... too many damn lights and traffic. Driving up the windy hills I was able to hold a gear higher in most of the spots. Well worthwhile mod for the drivability improvement alone.

On my mind next is a boost gauge and turbosmart manual boost controller, and an exhaust from the dump pipe back. I'm still shaking my head at myself for wanting more power now... I keep telling myself it will also go towards driveability and economy - and I know its not why i'm doing it!

I still want a rear bumper (allpro style) built but its on the back burner for now. Too much money leaving my pockets!

I need some opinions.
There will be a cross country scavenger hunt here next month and i will be participating... It will be a good chance to get some exposure for a product that I am marketing..... SO anyone know about plasti dip? I want to do my rims to grab some over the top attention (temporary). Please see below photoshopped rendering of the colour I have in mind and tell me what you think...

Did an awesome scavenger hunt. Got the wheels plasti dipped and some decals done on the rig. Got some great attention.

As she stands today....
Also added water / meth injection and plan to up the boost to 17psi. 3" exhaust from dump pipe back to come soon, will look at upping the boost after that. A rear bumper to be built up eventually!

Heya folks!
It's been far too long since my last post, and its been far too quiet on the site IMO!

I'm ready to do a 3" exhaust from the dump straight through; and need some advice RE the placement of the exhaust tip. I dont care for looks at all, just practicality.

See photos below of my current (stock) exhaust tip, note the routing and how it is rubbing on my 33" spare tyre. Any suggestions on how to route a 3" exhaust at this section of the vehicle? Can it go above the spring close to the chassis rail? Can it be routed any differently at all?

Please keep in mind that i carry an exhaust jack for recovery and it is necessary to reach the tip to use this tool.

I appreciate all ideas! I hope to get the exhaust custom welded up this coming Saturday. Cheers!

I've got mine running above the spring and dumping being the mud flap. Heap of room. Running extended shackles which you would need for a 3in pipe.

Cost me $60 at a muffler shop.

You do need to move the hanger but the muffler shop can do that in 2 seconds.

3" turbo done... straight through via a custom dump pipe. Vehicle isn't loud at all and the power delivery is soooo smooth. Turbo lag seems to have been minimized to the point that i didn't notice it on my first drive home from the muffler shop.

And the tip placement looks good... now to test under articulation to be sure...

I've got a 3" turbo back running thru like a stock system. barely rubs on a 32" tyre but I've lowered the spare a bit, pushed it over with my foot and then tighten up the spare. doesnt move and gives you just enough clearance!

btw 17psi goes good but try 20 if you're game :P
