Hey E,
I've been reading up on the top mount intercooler mod. You still thinking about going for it?

Yeah, still interested in doing the mod... can't find an intercooler at the moment although I'm not looking real hard.

I have a mate with a Prado running the intercooled 1KZ-TE and with a chip and exhaust he'll be looking at 136Kw, so well worth it IMO

So I've taken it on myself to modify my rear bar to include a tow hitch... I've got all my CAD drawings done and started work on it this afternoon

I'm using 65x4.0 SHS rather than 75 to save some space... weight would be vary similar.

The pics... lovin' the new cut off saw, cutting and taking photos is a breeze!

The bones of the bar... will sit lower into the bar, just need to notch the ends around some plate

Haha, me too... it will be short lived though as once the rear bar is done it will be getting a tidy up and some new wheels and that's about it - all my efforts will then be focused on building the '85 X-Cab.

Paint is pretty rough as I'll be getting all the barwork powdercoated when DRAB is done.

Hey mate awesome rig just wondering how you went about putting in the manual hubs?? I spoke to a couple of 4wd shop sand they said it can't be done? Was it a huge job? Hope this ain't a no brainer question.

Search youtube you'll see some how-to videos. Its very straightforward, but you'll need a brass hammer to make it easiest on yourself popping out those cone shaped washers.

Was a piece of cake really, just make sure you get manual hubs from the same model IFS hilux 98-04... you just take off the solid drive flanges and bolt the new hubs on then fit the end cap and drive gear of the manual hub on and you're done. The circlip and bolt/washer at the end of the axle still both fit as well.

One of the best mods I've done... esp since I explosed a CV a few weeks back

Diff is in the factory position, I just have a fair bit of lift on the front TB's = bars wound up too high = less than smooth ride

Also I think the front bar makes it appear higher than it is
