Well been a while since an update,

Canopy is STILL NOT here, though it is atleast in transit from Melbourne to Maitland so i should get it on this week just in time!

I also have just ordered a **** load of things including,
Front bash plate and extended shackles from Buds Customs
1" Front diff drop kit and sway bar drop kit
Air Tank
Redarc Isolator
Airbags for the rear
New towbar
Spare rim/tyre to match the other 4

Looking forward to getting it all fitted up and lowering those torsions a little.

Heres a couple of pics before i fitted the canopy of how poor the travel WAS in my lux, once i get the extended shackles and wind the front torsions down a bit i'll get some new pics of the much improved travel.

The canopy when it arrived (packaging already removed)

Then the fun begun, fitting all the things i wanted added which also meant pulling down a fair bit of the carpet lining to run the wiring.

This pin switch is hooked up to the interior lights so that when the glass door is opened they turn on like a normal door switch light and it is also connected to the alarm to secure it a little better.

What made you choose a canopy over, say, a roll top or tonneau?

What do you mean by roll top hardCharger? I had a tonneau cover on it but they just aren't practical enough for carrying things that i wanted to carry.

Thanks Rwnslux

By roll top, I meant the type like those provided by Pace Edwards, Blueys, et al.

But I guess you carry a lot of tall items then?

Too tall to fit under the tonneau cover, yeh. It also seals so much more aswell which is nice for camping etc

Hmm... Something to think about then...

I'm still torn between a roll top and a canopy...

Also, where'd you get the 1" diff & sway bar drop kit? Can you post pics? Is there a 2" drop option?

I bought the Diff/sway bar drop kit from the states.. I just googled it and they were basically the only option and it's listed as the Tacoma kit. They don't offer a 2" kit but they do say on their site if you don't see it they will make it so just ask them, but I don't know if there's a limiting factor that prevents a 2" drop or not.

I tossed up wether or not to get a canopy too but going camping soon made my mind up for me, I'll throw up a picture tomorrow of the diff drop kit, just waiting in the extended shackles now and it'll all be fitted in.

Interesting... How's that working out for you? Does it survive off road?

Where'd you get 'em?

I almost got those extended shackles from buds custom but ended up going with a set from superior. Awesome hilux mate, your front end is exactly how i want mine to look, i was pricing up that bulbar and winch just the other day.

How did you lift you're 2" I just bought the shackles, a new bush kit and planned on winding the front torsions up a lil bit, Are you adding those shackles to how previously lifted it to add more height?
