Travo's 2000 RZN169 build (slow)

Postby travo on Sat, 30 Aug 2014 9:14 +0000

Hi guys, I've been hanging around the forum for a while, thought now that I'm starting to work on the hilux I would post a build.

I bought a 2000 2.7l off my dad who had owned it from new. It was pretty much stock, so I get to have fun doing the mods myself and seeing what differences everything makes.

Current Mods:
GME UHF
Safari Snorkel
Diff breathers
31" MT tyres - installed this morning, havent gotten to play with them offroad yet.

Future Plans:
Extractors
2" suspension lift
Free wheeling hubs
Steel Bullbar/Winch

When I first got it:

I had to wind up the torsion bars a touch to fit the 31s nicely. At the moment its about 20mm above stock

New MTs:

Hopefully I can get some more offroad shots in the near future.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm loving the look of MTs too. I was just going to get ATs, but I got a really good deal on them.

Went for a quick drive down at Yalwal on the weekend, really happy with the new tyres... Unbelievable the difference betwen old vs new. I felt like I had a lot more control of the car (whether that is a good thing or it will get me into trouble in the future, we will see  )

I have a very slight amount of scrubbing if I hit bumps while turning... Dunno whether to remove front mud guards, raise it a touch further, or just not worry about it.

I'd say to wind your torsion bars up a bit more and see how you go from there.
