g'day all,
never really saw myself writting up one of these as i see my hilux as prity "medioka"
but ive done a few mods on it since joining this forum and figure that i gained alot of the enthusiasm and courage to get stuck in from your photos and infomation, that its about time i got stuck in and returned the favour.

the cars got a TJM 2" suspention lift,

i made a draw system identical to the blackwidow ones

just put in a Tigerz Grande winch.

so this is abit of an intro too.

been rinding dirt bikes since 13, love to get out for a shot when i can, and since lifes pulled me away from the solo moto trips ive grown prity fond of my 4WDing.

so heres this rear bar ive made...

working between these two photos i originally planned on doing the chop and making a whole bar to suit, but talked myself back to something alittle more every day driver than trophy truck...

gained 5.5" / 140mm from the original towing brackets.
sorry i never got around to doing a departure angle thing at the start, but i can do one at the end. (i have a 2" lift fitted)

3mm wall thickness, 48mm diameter gall pipe. mounted to 10mm mild steel plate.
(factory plate measures 8mm with paint)

one you start its all over from there

the bar is now at Bayswater Powder Coating, $140 blasted and coated. cant wait for the phone call to pick it up.
i copped alot of greif from one bloke about cutting into the body like that, but to me its just a tub. and i backed into a few things a while back to the rear corners a full of bog anyway
this was the best soloution for me, i didnt want to go and make huge outriggers to go under the budy work like the ARB ones, they would be quite difficult to fabricate and to me the look bloody heavy.

another suggestion i had was to add the peice with all the holes in it like the ARB one, to give it more presance/ body, but i kinda like low profile look, thats why its getting painted a silver colour (Platapus... weird name for silver )

and finally the ninty degree joins towards the rear wheel instead of nice round bends...
the pipe bended at work aint that flash, so the corners arnt that tight, and it looked alittle silly with bends, like a big out of shape circle, thats why there ninty degree joins.


so ill get a photo up when shes looking all pritty in the sun as soon as it comes back... the bar that is... its pritty rainy here at the moment

Very tidy there mate. Love that someone goes the extra mile to make a job look super neat. Have u copped any further knocks to the part of the tub that sits lower than the bar?

My mate used a ARB bar to suit a quarter chop looks ok but I prefer the plate look

Number plate may not last too long there off road and mr policeman might not like it either. Copped a fine for obscuring the number plate thanks to a factory towbar fitted from Toyota
