Hello Everyone,
Im new to the 4wd Scence & I'm looking to get into it.
Ive recently purchased a,2000 Toyota Hilux Sr5 3.0TD, Its completely stock.

First mods, Ive orded a 2inch Stage 2 Tough Dog lift & also 32x11.5R15 BF goodrich Mud Terrain, awaiting delivery.
What does anyone recommend on the ' First ' Mods to my hilux? I will post a photo when I know how to do it.

Thanks, Josh

Welcome aboard josh.

A very open ended question mate. A cb to talk to your mates? A bull bar to mount future accessories to?

Thanks for your reply Matt,
It has a bull from factory, but it's not the one that holds a winch.. So I'll have to get a completely new bull bar. And cb is a great idea, Cheera

1. a snorkel if it doesn't already have one.

2. 3in exhaust

3. Under body protection ( bash plates etc)

Didn't think of the snorkel, definitely that one. Re the exhaust, power is always nice but plenty of things to do before I'd say it needs it.

hey Josh,
I bought an 02 sr5 1kzte about 18 months ago, it was fairly standard but not any more. I think you've made the right choice for first mods, I did the same. Started with a 2 inch lift and 31" a/t's now 32" a/ts. which has made a big difference off road. I suggest getting 1" ball joint spacers for the front too, it gives you about 1inch off lift with out making the ride too hard and also give an extra 1" of down travel. I then got a TJM snorkel, turbo back exhaust, chip, water to air intercooler etc. Any way if you have any more questions just ask.
Cheers,
Wayne

I forgot to mention even with a 2" lift you'll most likely need to remove the front mud flaps and trim the seam inside the guard and flare. It depends on your wheel off sets, mine's 8' wide with -19 offset. I think 0 offset rim would need less or no trimming. Good luck!

Wayne,
Yeah I heard it might scrub a little bit, but hopefully not much,
I ordered new rims also with the tyres.. They're 15x8 but I don't know how to work out what ' offset ' I'm not good at that,
I will be defiantly getting a snorkel &. 3inch exhaust soonish. And inter cooler a bit later down the track.
It's a great car and hopefully it turns out to be a good 4x4 with the mods I want to
Do,
Also,I heard they don't flex as much with ifs. How is your hilux going Wayne with the 2inch ifs lift? Cheers

Mate it flexes well for an ifs hilux. I haven't been on the site for over 18 months, once I remember how to upload photos you'll see the flex. I wish it had a solid axle front though heaps more flex and stronger too.. But yeah it will go well off road you won't be disappointed. Also the wheel off set will be stamped on the inside of the wheel.
Cheers,
Wayne
