scottys '92 build

aaaaaalright so thought i may as well start a bit of a build even though the work hasnt begun yet.
Abiding by the 5 Ps (Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance) i figured it would be a good idea to pick all your knowledgable brains before she goes under the knife/grinder/welder.

so im picking up a 1992, solid axle front, single cab, 2.8 straight diesel off a mate of mine.
first up the old donk is getting a bit of a facelift. new injectors, head gasket, new radiator and some other mumbo jumbo i didnt understand. getting resprayed just the current model white.
plan is to turbo it weve got a turbo out of a mates 2006 wrx thats in great shape, and am wanting to intercool it too not too sure what way to go with that top mounting is the obvious choice though i suppose. Not sure what size to go for exhaust is 3" still the go? emailed beaudesert but got no response from them.

plan for suspension set up is RUF conversion, drop hanger, IFS rear leaves, rear shock inversion, high steer. not quite sure wat length shocks yet first thought was 12" front and 10" rear???
wanting to run 33s for the time being until i can afford to lock front and rear with a regear for 35s so am aiming for 2 -3" lift for now.

ive got so many questions i just want to set it up right first time and this is my first time dealing with these older models and a live axle so its all foreign ground for me! have had a heap of help off a coupl of members already which has been great they know who they are.

any tips/tricks or just general ideas are all greatly appreciated!!

cheers in advanced!!

Scotty,

Nice one Mate... should be a nice little project.

Talk to Bud about all the suspension stuff and running gear... you won't find a better source of knowledge and experience on the older solid axle Hilux's. He has built a stack of them over the years and has refined the set up very nicely over time.
You seem on the right track with your plans.

Good luck with it, I look forward the to build as it unfolds.

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks guys im looking forward to it too!!
I gave buds shop a call a couple weeks ago about sending me some pics of any front bars he's made for this model as id be keen to get one off him if there was one i liked. old mate said he'd send me some pics but i never got any. if you've got any handy matty id be very appreciative. :D What do you think is the best way to contact bud to get some info out of him i know how busy they are?

Ok first question. Seeing as the engine work is going to be the first bit to get under way i would like to know what peoples thoughts are on exhaust size for these old girls? Can you get a nice note out of the 2.8? Sent beaudesert exhausts an enquiring email but no response from them. Will give scotts rods a bell and see if he can sort me out. The only problem i thought i might have is that its going to be an aftermarket turbo job so will it have to be a drive into a shop to get the zorst made kinda deal (all the good exhaust joints are in QLD bugger)
Oh yea and here are some pics of the blank canvas!!
