Been on here for a while reading all the great info from you guys so I thought I might start my own build thread.

Here goes.

Its a 2004 Extra Cab 5L-E Diesel I picked up about 6 months ago. It had 168XXX kms on the clock and was in pretty tidy nick as the bloke I bought it off only used it to tow his little 12ft tinny around. It had stock khumo tyres on it and the only mods done to it were an ARB winch bulbar and safari snorkel.

First thing I did was bolt my bodgy old dog box on the back for hunting.

Yeah thanks mate took me a while to find one that hasn't been thrashed just wish they made the extra cabs factory turbo but they only do the single and dual cabs factory turbo in that model apparently. Bloody stupid if u ask me but can't have everything. If I wanted to go fast I wouldn't have bought a 4x4 lol

Seems ridiculous! Same as no auto in the extra cabs in the 150 series hilux.

Hope it treats ya well. What's the plans for it?

Then I got a 2" body lift kit from snake racing

Image

Then got the blocks powder coated black and now I'm just waiting for my TAC application to get approved to fit that. Also looking at 2" suspension lift options at the moment and will probably get that when I get back in from this swing at work in a couple weeks. Anyone got any ideas on this?

Also bought a BRC diff breather kit that I will fit at the same time as the body lift.

Also thinking about doing the gearbox trans breathers while I have the centre console apart when doing the body lift but still a bit undecided on whether it's needed.

Also got up this morning and installed a HID kit for my spotlights (IPF 900XS). Let me just say even in the day time it makes them so much more brighter, can't wait to see them at night!

Put in the 50mm body lift on the weekend took me about 8 hrs all up in between cans and had to get an air intake pipe from Toyota for the turbo 3 litre engine and had to shorten it a bit to make it fit then had to take both gear sticks into an engineering shop to get extended 50mm which cost me a carton but it's all back together now and drives good. Painted the grille mat black for shits n gigs which looks pretty good. Will get some more pics up when I get around to it.

No mucking around here  coming along pretty quick! Didn't realise the gear levers had to be extended in this model, have to be done? Or done by choice?

Nah mine had to be done. Couldn't even get it into gear cause the shifter boots bunched up that much but it was easy took em out and dropped em both off at an engineering shop for the day told them to extend them on the straight part of the shaft and chucked em back in that arvo and it was like stock again.

And cheers bud the one perk of working out bush & having no kids, whatever the Missus doesn't take gets spent on the ute haha down side is I only get to play with it for a week out of every month. Can't wait to get back on Tuesday and test out all the hype about these diff locks haha

Cheers

Been busy today doing the ring around for a few things.

I got 18% tint on the windows this afternoon from tint a car (did a really good job)

Got it booked in for a 2.5" exhaust and extractors on the 27th and also got it booked in for a new set of KM2's (265/75R16) on Tuesday.

Couple of photos of progress so far.
