Matt's sr5 TD build up

Postby Luxxyy on Sun, 08 Jul 2012 10:40 +0000

G'day everyone. I recently bought my first 4wd. 2000 SR5 TD. I'm new to the 4wding scene.

Here she is as I bought her. Stock as a rock apart from snorkel and bullbar.

I then decided to make a roof console. All that's missing is the UHF

Here are just some random shots

Plans are as follows:
31x10.5 Mickey Thompson ATZ
2" lift kit
Arb winch bar
MCC rear bar with spare wheel carrier

Big update. Got a 2" tough dog lift installed last month and also a set of 32x10.5 mickey Thompson MTZ. Couldn't be any happier with the set up.

Looks the goods. Notice much drain on power after the 32's went on?

There is a bit of drain on power but not enough to stress about.

Bit of an update. Put my car on a flex ramp. Not overly happy with the little flex I'm getting. Any tips on how to get more flex?

Your rear springs might be set up to carry a heavy load mate now that you don't have the canopy on you could probably change springs or take out a load spring talk to one of the sponsers like monster rides/ Matt or Brendan from ultimate great blokes to deal with.

Also your tires are the really 32/10.5

Picked up steel roof racks the other day from aussie auto parts. Great quality and exactly like an ARB rack. Also picking up a 32" light bar for the racks this week.

Went out for my first night run with my brother on Friday night up at anglesea.

It's just a carryboy canopy. Looks great on the car.

future mods will turn this thing into a very nice touring machine mate great work. notice much height difference with the tough dog lift? how much did u pay if u dont mind me asking, im looking into the same kit for my 04 hilux. I currently have 33's with a 2" BL and torsion bar wound up a bit, very minor rubbing but im hoping a lift kit will erase that.

Thanks mate. Got a few more things before its finished. Have a 42" light bar on the way and a few other little things. Yeah there was a noticeable difference in height with the tough dog kit. You will clear the tires easy with a 2" suspension lift and 2" body. I've got 32's on it now with no scrubbing what so ever.

Suspension lift doesn't really help fit bigger tyres, the wheel can still go to all the same areas in the guard.
While the wheels may not scrub on the road, when you get some articulation off road they will still rub.
Body lift, guard massaging, correct offset, are all your friends for bigger tyres.
You can get lifts like the snake racing kit that drop the whole front end too.
