What type of cost would it set me back?

Your model Hilux came out with that motor in Thailand! just never made it to Aus.

Heres some pictures of the Rhino flat steel mesh rack. Only problems i have with it are that it does make noise whilst driving at 80+ K's, but i suppose all racks do. Other than that it is extremely sturdy and i am happy with it.

The 1kd fte is basically the common rail version on the 1kzte which is the standard turbo version of your car. So you would think that is basically a bolt on job and new computer?

Righto, have been away on a few boys campin trips lately. Good to get away
Have also worked on the dual battery system. All the hard work is done, the wires are run through the chassis, the isolater is mounted etc. All that i need to do now is make a plywood box for the battery box and to mount the 12V outlets etc on. Just need to find some spare time. I will post up some pics now, but i will show you the box once it is in and complete.

Well the dual battery system is done. I have used a 100AH AGM deep cycle battery. Should be enought to run a fridge and lighting. Heres a picture of the box i made for it all. It looks huge in the picture, but its not really that big.
Also i have a LED light strip ready to solder wires on and hook up to my awning when i get some free time. Has anyone done this before? Any hints?

All i can say is that i couldnt get rhe 10mm cable through part in te chassis near the tub where the round tubular beam is. I had to come out and go back into the chassis again. Its right under your wheel arch. Also make sure you use split where needed.

http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.ph ... Conversion

you would need a 1kz gearbox out of a surf or sr5 version of yours tho and move the motor mounts to suit, as the 1kz/1kd and 5l have about 100mm difference, apart from that the 1kd and 1kz are same block

I ran my cable from the battery out to the tow bar. i used some 8mm steel cable to put through first and taped the wire to it. little fidley.
