Moving and starting a thread just for "The Pig". Bought it last week for a project ute.
For those that haven't seen its' current state here she is...
The 22R was apparently "fully reconditioned" 18 months ago (I have the receipt). Apart from that she's all bad news.
Anyway,I got underway today by getting The Pig on the hoist and assessing what is wrong with it. So far I am aware of:
Spungy brakes (master cyclinder leaking brake fluid)
Handbrake cable missing
Front rotors undersized
Rear shoes worn out
Three rear uni joints all buggered
Front left wheel bearing collapsed
Rear main seal leaking
(and therefore) clutch is contaminated and slipping
Suspension and steering bushes all flogged out
Radiator cap not holding pressure
Radiator hoses, fan belt etc all stuffed
Air from aircon not getting through to the vents
Fuel gauge sender missing in action
Tow bar not properly secured to the chassis
and I am sure there will be more.
The good news is it starts first time everytime and stereo and (front) speakers work so we can listen to some tunes at least!
So I ordered essential parts today. Tomorrow, I'll get the urgent stuff done (i.e. brakes, uni joints wheel bearings etc) this week and fix the rest between offshore work commitments.
Anyway, The Pig will be slow build up but stay tuned as I have some seriously big plans for it. In the meantime I need to get the 'boring' stuff done so that it is roadworthy and safe to drive.
Cheers
Gus
