American new to Oz and the Hilux

Postby apcollins on Wed, 09 Feb 2011 10:14 +0000

Hi everyone,

My name is Andrew, I'm an American explorer just arrived in NSW on a work/holiday visa. Off-roading is my main hobby, and I've heard the Hilux is the best truck for the job out here (we can't buy them in the US)

As this is "new hilux.net" you guys might not be able to help me out as much (shopping for an oldie in the $2k-$3k range) but I'm hoping to learn a few things on this forum.

Welcome aboard mate. and also welcome to OZ

As for your query on the old Lux, plenty of blokes here had old hilux's, so someone should be able to help you out. Your budget might be a bit small to get something decent but try the trading post website, carsales.com.au and local papers.

Good luck
Mick

Howdy Andrew and welcome to Oz.

You won't get a lot in your price range. Not sure where you are located at the moment but the link below is from a car sales site in the $2500.00 to $5000.00 range. Bear in mind that the Hilux has always been available in a both 2WD and 4WD versions so double check before you get excited about any prices.

Best of luck and enjoy this great country!
