Hi from the Caribbean!!!

Hi everyone, I'm from Haiti where you would be surprised how much the mighty Hilux is popular. My brother in law has one black and he help me put my hands on one since it may take order a truck. the local dealer basically does not carry a stock, and if he did they might not last on his lot anyway, lol!
So I got a 2008 SR5 dual cab, D-4d 3.0 TD, I love it and so far all I did to it is change the air filter for a K&N unit (great by the way) and put on some Pirrelis Scorpions 31x10.5x15. It is difficult to find good aftermarket parts, since the Hilux is not sold in the US everything must come from Australia, New Zeland, Asia or Europe and it take for ever.
I've been trying to find the cross referenced part in the US but it is not easy.
My next project is to find a good set of shocks and maybe springs. The roads here are in bad shape lots of pot holes (sometimes craters!lol) I live high in the mountains (1,500m altitude change from Home to work) so my brakes are taking a beating, and i am looking to upgrade them as well.
We have an OME dealer that just opened and he will be carrying DBA products as well. So I will be checking OME and DBA parts first. Any advise will be greatly appreciated...

Thanx!!! And I just came back from my local DBA shop who fitted me with slotted DBA rotors. I will complement that with Hawk pads, I will let you guys know how it all turns out.

Great to hear you're from the caribbean. I'm in Suriname.
I'm a bit ashamed of myself for not posting an introduction; I joined the forum before I ordered my hilux and since I received my 3.0 D4D late last year I haven't done any mods yet (don't want to jeopardize my warranty yet -lol) but I've a lot of things in mind.
Because of our location (caribbean) it's hard to get the good stuff that's available in Oz. You're lucky enough to have an OME and DBA dealer, because over here there's almost no aftermarket parts available and shipping from Oz all the way over here is quite expensive. Some Tacoma parts are identical but I haven't figured out that yet.

Welcome alexdom22. By any chance did you used to be islandLux22? I remember he joined last year but hasn't logged backed on since the earthquake. He also talked about living in the mountains and wanting to upgrade his brakes. Coincidentally he has the same birthday as you and his name is Alex.

Yep it's sounds like me, i lost my laptop in the quake and my login infos. My office building was destroyed, but thank God I was in a meeting in another part of town.

Glad you're OK. It must have been pretty scary. How are things over there? Is life getting back to normal?

Well life goes on, but we're all traumatised for life. Whenever there is a big noise everyone rushes out to safety. But it's getting better, thanks for asking.
