Hi All,

Recently I bought a 2007 DCab Hilux and altough I've been involved a good part of my life with LandCruisers (40s, 60s) I'm new with the Hilux platform.

My lux has 75000 kms on it, but everything is working perfect on it hope it keeps that way for some time

Hope to learn a lot from you and your knowledge. Anything I can do to contribute to the forum would be a pleasure for me.

All Hilux here in Venezuela are petrol powered, mine has the 2.7L 4cyl. Mine is the STD edition, the luxury Hilux here has a lot more gizmos (well, not as much as I'd like...) and it comes with a G engine 4.0L petrol.

Short-mid term mods are:
Bullbar
Modifying the rear cargo structure to support my roof tent
VHF radio install
7.50R16 or 235/85 16 rubbers

that is one tidy lux you have why do they only sell petrol hilux's over there? is diesel more expencive and not viable to make diesel luxes?

Welcome to newhilux.net Inassiff. is your ute a 4x4 or 4x2, going by the 6 stud rim, it looks like you have a 4x4. Marcelo aka Chancha_Blanca.

Honestly, the main reason is that Venezuela has one of the largest oil production rates in America and due to that, the goverment sells gasoline in the country at very low cost. I'm talking that a full tank costs 2.5USD so that's cheap....

In venezuela the 90% of the passenger cars and SUVs use gasoline, only manufacturers as Nissan sells the Frontiers with diesel engines. The load trucks are I guess... 75% diesel only because the are not produced using gasoline and diesel is more suitable for load transportation.

I'd LOVE to have a diesel Hilux or a LandCruiser but... Toyota doesn't produce them and there are not too many gas stations that sells diesel...

It's nice that gas is VERY affordable for everyone 'cause when travelling, the gas is the less important thing you have to worry about... but I'd still love a Toy Diesel engine

Thanks Marcelo!, my ute is 4x4, here in Venezuela the production line of Hilux is like this:

Pre 2005 (1996-2005):
Single Cab 4x2
Double Cab 4x2
Double Cab 4x4

2006 ->
Single Cab 4x2
Double Cab 4x4

An interesting site to see how the Hilux's are in Venezuela is http://listado.tucarro.com.ve/carros/toyota/hilux/

You can notice there maybe some differences, I think the 6th generation Hilux began in the rest of the world in 2005, but here it began to be produced in 2006.

thats very intresting what you just said, here it costs about $80 to $100 AUD to fill our lux's with diesel, petrol prices are simular aswell thats a fair differance from what you guys pay, ya lucky buggars lol
its amazing how much it varies depending on what part of the world you live

That link you poated was great, some nice looking lux's over there. By the looks of things you guys have a fair range of front bars to choose from. Any idea of what kind of bar you will run?

mmm, the lux is stock, not lifted... but I'm planning a 2" lift when my budget lets me do that

Here there are a lot of small factories that build bars, but not all of them are usefull or "secure to drive with" but here is VERY expensive to buy TJM, ARB, Ironman bars...

In the past I used to equip my TLCs with heavy/bulky bars, but now I'm going "light 'n low profile" hehe... the bar I'll be buying could be maybe this one

looks nice, very simialr to the arb sahara bar. Keep us updated mate
