New from New Zealand - First Hilux

Postby SkipperCarl on Wed, 04 Nov 2020 10:38 +0000

Hi Everyone,

Carl here in Auckland (though originally from the U.S.). I'm in the process of building an overland Hilux/camper combo which has started with the purchase my first ever Hilux last week. I've wanted a small engine diesel my whole adult life (like many off roaders in the U.S. who are stuck with petrol only), so I finally pulled the trigger on a 2017 Hilux double cab with a flat deck (to accommodate a Tommy Camper) that the wife and I will use to explore the Shaky Isles (NZ). First step will be making the thing comfortable for my 6'4" 115kg Yank tank body, lol.

Really happy to have found this forum and quite keen to pick the collective Hilux brain that exists here regarding my build. We went used in order to have some extra money to spend on accessories, so should hopefully provide some interesting content for as the build progresses.

All the best.

~Carl
