Believe it or not my old man's daily driver is a YN65 1983 Single Cab 4x4 ute. I pretty sure it's on its 3rd engine, currently running the 2.2L with a 5speed. It is dark blue with a steel tray. Stock as a rock.

I have joined the forum to hopefully find ideas, info and pick the brains of the group. The main issue right now is the bench seat, came here to hopefully find ideas for replacement options.

I hope to keep it in the family and one day blow some cash on it as a project.

Cheers,
Lewy

Welcome Lewy88

Sounds like the beginning of an awesome build. I've always wanted to build up one of those. Your other car wouldn't happen to be a Isuzu?

I bought two Stratos seats (most comfortable seats I ever owned) and installed them into my old 60 series LandCruiser. They're Australian made and Stratos supply mounting rails for most vehicles. These seats were (maybe still are?) used in ambulances etc. Otherwise Recaro seats do the same

Just goes to show the unbreakable Hilux lives on, even after 3 engines :D

Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

There has been plenty of these around recently that are rusty or rough or both but with good stuff on them, like V8 or V6 conversions and aftermarket stuff including seats and suspension. Might be worth looking at one of these for bits. Here are a couple but are decent bodied cars:
