Hi All.

I’m new to the forum. I’m from Wollongong and drive 2006 Hilux.

I’m not really sure where to look to find what I’m after so if anyone can steer me to the right place, that would be appreciated..

My old girl is in need a cosmetic facelift. I’ve been searching for a plain black net/mesh front grill that I like. There’s heaps on eBay and online for any hilux 2011+ But I can’t find much for an 06.

Does anyone know if I can put a 2011 front grill on my 06 OR is it possible to swap out my factory grill and bumper with a 2011 bumper and front grill. Will it fit? I don’t have a bull bar and I’m not entirely sure I’ll get one but I’ll be open to it.

Thanks

Welcome!

Doesn't work, the bonnet, bumper and lights are the wrong shape to fit a facelift grille to pre-facelift (unless you're keen enough to replace them as well)

They're hard to get hold of now that it's so old, pricier too. Here's one...

2011 is the same as 2006. Mine is June 2011 and is identical to 2010 etc. The change is with 2012 onwards, 2012 model year started 9/2011. Same way GM did it, ‘57 Chevy started September ‘56.

Don't forget the front quarter panels too mate.
Plenty of guys have done it, I asked about parts from a wrecker before I started my build, but figured the $1200 (not including a new bullbar) could be spent elsewhere :D

Can't believe how expensive those grilles are now :o I think I paid $120? Hope it doesn't break anytime

Yes, but the facelift parts are always listed as 11-15, or 2011+

I know, I paid the same as you for mine, shipped and painted.

Yeah you are right, I just looked and many of them get it right and say 05-11 but many also stuff it up stating 11-15. OP is right though, limited grille choices for 05-11.

Isn't it 05-08 and 08-11?
The bottom of the early grill is a different shape,
use a 08-11 grill on a 05-08, and there is a gap between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the grill...

The grille did change in '08, but it's the same size. I have an '07 that came with the first style grill (wide centre bar and a bit that goes down below the badge, I briefly swapped it out for an '09 grille (black with the chrome fang style thing at the top), before fitting the TRD style mesh grille. there were no fitment issues, I still had the factory bumper at the time.
