Hi all,
New hilux owner here, always wanted a nice single cab 2wd Lux for carting the bikes around and commuting to the station. Picked up a tidy 2016 2.4TD with 50k on it. Love it!

Hey buggynate, what did you have before the 'lux?

What sort of 'bikes" are you taking about?

Just purely FWIW, stay away from the 'mods' and 'build' threads ... you'll lose hours, and thousands.

Hey mate, still got a beach buggy that I built, Hilux replaced a little corolla I bought to go to and from the station, it was an old grandma's car I reckon, 99 model with 50k on it.

Got a Yamaha Mt-09 roady and a Gasgas for the dirt.

But they are my favourite threads! Haha, wifey thinks I've only bought the Hilux cause I like tinkering with new toys. How insulting!

Sheesh, a "grandma corolla" to a Hilux... Big difference there!

How are you enjoying the view from up high in traffic? Have you been in any wet weather with roadspray yet?

Yeah, still a Toyota though!
I was just telling my brother that even though it looks quite low the driving position is up nice and high. Feels like I am driving a fourby.

Yep! It is a little diabolical in the wet, especially with the light truck tyres pumped up to the stock specs of 65psi...

I only run about 35 psi in them now. I'll be fitting some all terrains when these concrete things wear out.

Mate, I have a 2002, yep, 2002, 17 year old ... RAV4 in the garage. My wife loves it, won't part with it ... we bought it two weeks after our honeymoon, and makes it easy for me to remember what year we got married!

Plan is our 14yo daughter will end up with it as her first car ... IF my wife can find something she likes to replace it.

Corolla's seem to go forever too!

The 2.4TD is a sweet motor, not too far down on torque and power compared to the 2.7TD. Goes well enough in the light single cab ute.

Pretty good on fuel too, I got about 750k's out of 65 litres the first tank. Wish the fuel light didn't come on so early. Comes on with another twenty litres in the tank which is a bit paranoid in my opinion.
