Surf check on the Tweed Coast, anyone?

Hey NewHilux crew!

I've been a 'newtriton' user for many years (need to check, think I joined over there back in 2007), and have visited here a few times too.

I'm currently looking at trading my MN Triton in for an SR5 Hilux. Oh, the joys of dealing with car sales people

I'm a surfer. Yep, surf almost every day. Living on the 'Tweed Coast" in Northern NSW I use my 4wd ute for light beach work for surf and fishing, trips away camping with the family, odd trip to Fraser or further South in NSW, and towing our 4.5m tinny. Active family, and actual 'use' the ute for gardening around the house too (load of mulch, soil, garden rubbish, etc)

Don't "really" need an SR5, but the deals ATM value price the SR out of the equation very quickly. I'll post up in the 'new price' thread about what I'm seeing in the market ATM.

Anyway, G'day, and thanks to everyone for sharing good useful info on here. I've used it already in my decision making. I hope to add some useful content too in exchange.

For what its worth (not a lot  ) I would still get an SR over the SR5 - what accessories on the SR5 got ya hooked in?

Thanks mate.

The "welcome" PM from Dave pretty much says the same thing.... Search first numpty!

Sage advice.

I'll have to check the mods under $50. Does grabbing a carton and staring longingly at my new lux count?

Hahaha - drinking $49 worth of beer makes any lux look better... gives it a temporary extra 2" lift ;)

Sorry mate, missed this last bit on first read.

TBH, it was the value difference due to current Toyota Australia promotional support to dealers.

Changeover price difference was only $4k between and SR and SR5.

But.

The SR5 had the 'extra' bling of dash cam, front parking sensors and tailgate dampener, and of course the SR5 'spec' so upgraded interior, wheels, sports bar etc. I didn't want or need the bling, but at only $4k difference, the SR5 seemed a lot better value.

Might put some pics in the shed.

I keep my cars pretty stock. I'll change the tyres out when the OEM wear out.

Other than move toolkit, surf gear, handheld UHF and a few stubby holders over, there won't be much to see.

I have been looking on here at:

- under tray water storage
- fixed UHF location and install
- rear seat mod

I've blown the budget on the purchase. So only must have will be roof racks. Going the prorack version again due to past experience. They might go on this weekend.
