Harrisbm back as Bharris

Postby Bharris on Sat, 15 Dec 2018 6:23 +0000

I used to be on the forum as Harrisbm and have changed all my emails and passwords. I've been away a while because we got a boat. My lux is now 13 years old and I would like to know if the live front end is still desired, or has the IFS improved to the point that there is minimal CV's breaking? I've only done 230,000km's and I was wondering has anyone done a LS3 Engine swap. I looked for it in the threads but couldn't find a topic on this. Thinking about selling or turning into a buggy. I still have spiderman, but the additional seats is a little more friendly when taking friends for a drive at the park.

G'Day Bharris, welcome back to the forum

IFS probably hasn't come along much in the hilux since the Gen 7. Check out Ronny Dahls clip on IFS vs Solid Axle if you havnt already IFS vs LIVE AXLE, Off-road
Cant beat a solid axle for off road capability. Pros and cons of both covered in the clip - not specific to hilux though

I see you have a SAS conversion on your 2006

Not many hits for specifically on LS3 conversion but a few hits on V8: LS3

Cummins recently released a R2.8 crate engine - probably no where near as big as you want but looks to be a good engine
There may be some members who could shed some more light on your options.
