Has anyone fitted an Armax chip to a current model Hilux?

Why would you?
My 2017 goes fine without one, family of 5, heaps of camp gear, no problem.

Increase torque, increase pickup, turn it into a responsive engine, especially when towing. In other words, turn it into the vehicle that Toyota claim it is.

Yea cool, just be careful as you'll void warranty for most parts and more power doesn't necessarily mean better 'off road' performance.

IMHO the air max isnt all that good, Its a generic plug and play type module/chip. I would personally opt for a Unichip plug and play piggy back ECU. Im also let to believe that the airmax sellers use to import and retail the uni before it was taken from them.

G'Day Tmore and welcome to the forum

Theres many threads on chips - use the search function as detailed below.
Chips appear to be safe if set on lower settings but may not give the kick some owners expect. When chips are cranked up they can cause a few problems. Piggy back ecu's can negate these problems - as long as they are tuned well.

This forum contains an almost endless array of knowledge about the Toyota Hilux and over the years a lot of topics, questions and issues have been addressed.
