Total Newbie - Buying a Hilux

Total Newbie - Buying a Hilux

Postby Gawry on Mon, 07 Feb 2011 9:11 +0000

Well I have finally been given the green light from the boss to go out an buy a Hilux.
I'll be getting rid of the Commodore Stationwagon (thank goodness) and then my search will begin.

I have done some research and the following are some of my must haves:

Less than $35000
Less than 100000 kms
Later than 2007 Model
Diesel
4 doors
Tray
Silver

Undecided aspects are:
SR or SR5
Which MY model 07,08 or 09
Bullbar type
Wheel/Tyres

I welcome any tips suggestions from you the experts.
I am a total newbie.

Cheers Gawry

Welcome aboard mate

Avoid ex-mine vehicles and drive both the SR & SR5 and then decide which one you like the most and go from there.

Plenty of choice out there.

When I put the Canopy back on the tray for the next camping trip, I will take some further pics.
It is just as awesome!

Won't lift it any more, I think 2inch lift is fine.
A 4inch lift would be beasty though I must admit.
The A/T tyres will do for quite a while as well, so will check the posts and mull over the A/T vs M/T in that time.

Cheers and Happy/Safe Travels!

Tyrer Engineering were the makers for the set up of the canopy. They are in Colac VIC.
Sounds like you will have some time to think up the perfect set-up for your tray.
Your trip sounds good!
