Greetings from Jamaica

Hello to all!

I've been lurking many a forum for some time now and finally joined up to begin posting...
I have had my 2005 MK5 3.0TD double cab SR5 for 3 years now. This vehicle is not uncommon in Jamaica, but since the new shape came out it (current model) seems to be far more common. There is just something about the older shape that i love just a bit over the current... Cant identify it.

Anyhow the Hiluxes in Jamaica are commonly accessorized with carryboy and other "show type" accessories. There are probably a handful of hiluxes with a suspension or even body lift.

I want to stand out and get some improvement in traction when i trek into the mountains and on some beaches... So far i have what is undoubtedly the greatest modification one can have for the taxi drivers here in Jamaica: a Viair compressor with 2.5 Gallon tank and a dual trumpet semi-truck horn. People get out of the way when i tell them to...

Here's the wishlist:
33" Mud terrain tyres with some sexy shoulder lugs (yes i am primarily going for aggressive looks)
Steel rims with some good backspacing (3.75 for a 8" rim?)
2" body and 2" suspension lift
Xrox bar
lightforce 240's and 140's up front
5 lightforce 140's or 170's on a sport bar
a sport bar
some rain visors
a set of side steps
remove all traces of chrome possible!

Sadly the vehicle is too old and my market too small (read non-existent) for me to be able to find any remotely decent parts for my likes. So I will do my best to post up a build thread as i get going with this project...

Until then... Cheers!

Welcome to newhilux buddy,

The lux looks very tidy 8-)
So will you need to import all your mods/parts privately?

Cheers Troy

Thanks Seb. You are actually the first person to actually compliment the colour... Not my first choice, but at least the wheel arches match the body now (used to be silver and annoyed the heck out of me).

Thank you Troy, and yes... I will have to be importing everything myself... Good news is I found the Rancho part numbers for the struts i will be getting and i can find them in the U.S. for about half the price of what i see them being sold on what seem to be very reputable sites in Australia. Oddly enough i also found a retailer in the US who said they can get me some ARB parts too... so we'll see about it.
I hope to have my lift and tyres on for my usual December adventure.
