G'day All

G'day All

Postby young1 on Wed, 18 May 2011 7:16 +0000

Hey guys

As the owner of 2 hi-lux's already I'm looking to trade both of the old beasts and purchace a new one with all the creature comforts that I have been missing :)
Previously owned 1982 4x4 single cab with lift chopped tray 33's and the works and a 1990 space cab low lux.

Now looking for a 2006+ space cab or single cab hilux for around the $25K mark.

Only decision left is a tricky one on petrol or diesel? (4.0 petty not 2.7)
Any help would be awesome.
looks like an awesome forum guys can't wait to get my new lux so I can start dreaming of deeper pockets

The lux will be used to carry my moto and a lot of off-road work.
Will be lifting almost straight away as well as tyres and the usual. (possible E-Locker)
Looking to build it ready for some deacent off road work and a good truck for camping but will be doing some deacent hi-way work as I travel a fair bit with my moto.
Also looking at doing a trip to the cape in a year or so.

Exact reasons I bought a diesel mate.
Drive over 350km with my bike on.
Get good mileage.

Awesome off road.
Especially if you lock it up.

Read about monster rides rekon suspension.
Forum sponsor.
The newer stuff.

If you can't find it ill post you a link.

But really. Petrol diesel.. matter of opinion these days.
Cheers Seb.

Ok sweet, will have to check out the site.
And does anyone know how the petrol goes on fuel?
For some reason I've always been a fan of the petrol 4x4's (no idea why though)

Also thanks for the info seb

hmmmm thats not to good. Whats the diesel like?

Btw I was just looking at supercharger kits for the 4L and they where getting crazy hp out of them which is starting to give me ideas lol (which defs wouldn't be great for fuel :( ) 12-13 I could live with but 18 is getting a bit high aye.

Also I haven't seen any petrol build ups on here yet, anyone know who has done one so I can ask a few questions?

Cheers

haha yeah

It's hard not to spend money on it whilst saving for my new hilux.
So much stuff I still want to do to it, (roll bar, sliders, auto Lokka, Bigger lift, Paint job, Bucket seats, Drop shackels....etc.)

Auto Lokka may have already been ordered lol, was so hard to resist.

Also contemplating keeping this one and selling my low lux and making this one a comp truck :)

I was thinking about SASing a new hilux.
Or just doing a 4link rear conversion with coils then armour the front Ifs like crazy then put a E-lokka in and just drag the front end over everything and use the back for flex :)

Those 4 link suspension set ups are nuts.

And to Martin, I've only been on this site 2 days and have been on it ever since checking out different builds and options for my lux when I get round to it. If only the suspension rules weren't so gay in queensland.
probs start with a 5inch lift and muddies and E-locker and go from there.
