Hilux Series Codes?

Buying a 2000/04 lux and confused about the Series numbers - LN167r MY02, LN147r etc

Can someone decypher for me please?

Also I notice some diesels engine have been reconditioned around 220000/250000 klms - is normal? - I thought they would last longer.

All I know is LN167 is a 3 litre non turbo diesel, 5L engine. Ive got a 98' one out back as a project. Im not sure what others are though.

I would have thought 220,000, even 250,000 kms would have had a fair amount of life left in it also?

Have a look on redbook.com, they list all the different types of series codes & a lot of it means that they are either petrol/diesel, turbo or natural. Also weather it is a cab chassis (ie. tray back) or utility (ie. well body) I have a KZN165R MY02 which is a 2004 Turbo Diesel tray back & in 2004 they came out with a model in January & also another model in June which is the MY04.

I also did a lot of searching on carsales, carguide, drive, ebay & all those sights that sell cars. After a while you will notice the difference in the series codes & what they mean.
