HiYa,
2004 Twin Cab Hilux. The Drivers seat, the plastic (look pretty) cover where the recliner lever slides through for raise & lower function. The plastic cover has come loose because as you get in & out of the vehicle there's no way to stop your bum putting weight on it and the screws have pulled through the plastic. The cover then sits "Down" and stops the recliner lever from working.
Is there a way to put the cover back where it belongs without the same problem re-occurring in the future?

Probably, but there's nothing wrong with the seat, there's nothing wrong with the plastic cover (except for the screw holes). It's just a slight design flaw for the "Larger Bodied" person. Getting in & out of the vehicle puts pressure on the plastic cover that pulls the screws through the holes. I was just wondering if anyone had come up with a solution.

Unfortunately the older hilux models dont get much mention here. You could try searching ih8mud or tacomaworld as those seats are probably found in many 4runner, tacoma, maybe even tundra etc etc models

Yeah, it'd probably be cheaper & easier to remove the plastic cover all together and just get some seat covers that go over that area.
Not to worry.
