Hey all, I did multiple searches but wasnt having much luck.

Can anyone recomend a pair of seats to replace a flogged out bench seat in a YN65 1983 Single Cab Hilux?

Not worried about bolt holes completely lining up etc, we are happy to make them fit. But I'm hoping someone has experience as to a which car has seats that work well in the old Hilux. We will look to buy second hand, so ideally they'd be seats out of a fairly common model car. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Hey Lewy88, I have no idea what will work in your YN65 but people often look for WRX, XR8, Prado etc seats that are still manually operated and dont have airbags. Plenty available at wreckers, you might just need to do some measuring of the cab/current seat to ensure a good fit.

Alternatively, it might be worth getting the old seat reupholstered to avoid the need for engineering certs etc if you decide someday to change ownership of the vehicle.

Cool thanks for that. Appreciate the response. The manually operated and airbags are a great point! Might look in to the idea of re-upholstering the original seat. Thanks again.

I’m putting V2 CV8 Monaro seats in my HK GTS. They are electric and have a airbag. Only need two wires (+12 and 0V) to work. Airbags will never work as they won’t be hooked up.

Nice. So it's pretty simple to connect the electrics. Sounds like they just need power to work. That could be really handy in the old girl, and widens the options.

The V2 seats have lots of wires in the driver seat plug but most are for the ECU control for multiple seat positions and the airbag. There is two bigger pins in the plug for 12V, which is all you need for manual control of the seat. The passenger seat only has 4 pins, two for 12V, two for airbag.
V2 sears are no good to you as they tilt for the V2 coupe, but if they fit any Calais, Statesman, Commodore or Holden seats will do the same job. But most others will be the same be it Ford, Toyota etc.
I’d pull the seats out and go to a wreckers and start looking at the seats from other same era Toyotas may have similar seat frames and/or runners. Then you can chase some good ones when you find what is similar. Maybe Cressida or Crown or Supra?

Yeah ok. Thanks for your info and taking the time. Something super common like the Holden range would be good. We'll see how we go.

Get a bench seat, good for entertaining the ladies......

Come on guys, a gentleman never uses a bench seat to entertain the ladies

Names are not needed, or wanted, when entertaining ladies on either the front or back seats....

Ladies with no names still need something better than a bench!
