Sand anchor?

Postby oceanarium on Wed, 19 Jul 2017 3:59 +0000

Anyone give advice as to how effective a sand anchor is on the beach, like if you can lean on them hard enough to get a good pull out of a really soft patch.

Any recommendations of a good one not to bulky for keeping on board.

Spare tyre dug into a 1 metre hole with a strap through to attach the winch, fill the hole and bingo a strong sand anchor ;)
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

I have a need to drive on very soft beaches often to do fishing tours and don't want to waste the customers time with long recoveries.

Using a quick fold out sand anchor would be helpful if they work well? Means I can take some more calculated risks with my beach driving.

Its a bit of a random reference, but there was a show a while ago about 4x4ing across Alaska (Alaska Off-Road Warriors), a guy on there had a jeep who used a sand anchor almost every episode; it certainly did the job, and looked quick and easy to use (they were using it in a really soft mossy mud). But, I have never seen one working in real life.

I like the sarca sea anchors from anchor right they make a good product for sure. :D

Could not find much other info on them other than some boat distributors rather than 4wd or on line pricing etc. I will need to ask one of the local boat places that sell sarca sea anchors. Thanks for the tip.

I have seen the Sherpa advertised shipping ex Melbourne anyone have used one one, they look very similar ?
