Gday fellas I have 2001 3.0L 5L diesel farm ute. It's gotten hard to start over winter and I shouted it a new set of glow plugs which made no difference. I give it a double glow and sometimes it will start and other times it won't. I currently park it on a hill but would really like to get it sorted, thanks for your time and any ideas?

Check the easy stuff first, filters and flow. Then go deeper, compression check, injector service.

When was the last time you changed the oil? These small sump capacity engines are notorious for sludge build up if the oil is not changed regularly causing the oil turning to a treakle like substance which affects cold cranking speed. If it hasnt been changed for a while, get it as hot as you can and drop the oil and change it. This would be the first thing i would do.

Check to see if the glow plugs are actually getting power to start with. If they aren't check fuses and glow plug relay

Thanks fellas for your time, doesn't look like there's an easy fix I'll just have to plug through it

Ok Eng oil and filters (air, fuel and oil) changed out, still no good.
Thinking about getting the injectors checked out and possibly a new starter motor as i don't reckon it's cranking quite right and sometimes it won't crank and requires abit of a tap to get it working again.

What you boys reckon?
Cheers
