Power loss/ surging on hills 1kz te

Hi, I've got a 05 kzn165 hilux that is loosing power. I think it's all through the rev range but is most noticeable under load over 2500 rpm. It is dropping 10 or twenty clicks on hills I used to cruise over? It feels like a misfire. I changed air and fuel filters, had injectors rebuilt, injector pump tested. Cleaned manifold, ran clear fuel lines all the way back to tank ( there is air coming in at the filter but no change in performance when I ran it from the tank to the ip). Removed pickup from tank, it was clean.I put a boost gauge on and it's reading 12 lb, I removed the muffler and air filter, cleaned egr.
The lack of power is doing my head in and I haven't tried towing yet, I've dreamt I fixed it a few times but can't remember how!

Any ideas would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance ..Jason

I done the map sensor and the maf ( if that's the one near the air filter)

Just sounds alot like the symptoms of when I had a faulty MAF (near the airbox).

You could try and borrow one to see if there's a difference?

but there are some pretty experienced people on this forum who will know what's wrong :)

Cheers I'll try disconnecting mine and see if it makes any difference. Is there a way to test sensors? Resistance?

i wouldn't put my life on it but.......... I don't think a 1kz-te has a MAF sensor. It only has a MAP sensor and an air intake temperature sensor.
Your symptom does sound like an ECU issue, but its more than likely one of the sensors that is confusing the ECU. What about the throttle position sensor?? This will definitely be causing a lack of power if not reading correctly.

The ECU on the 1kz-te uses the following inputs to run its calculations:
Mass air pressure (boost)
Air intake temp
Throttle position
Maybe Engine Temp but because the temp gauge is so inaccurate, I doubt this is included.

MAF sensor is the one located on the intake. Near the air box.

Ever get a fix on this? Mines doing the exact same thing, bogs down and dies on hills

I had a problem with my 2.7 petrol. I tried cleaning the maf had the injectors cleaned the fuel pressure was tested. I also had it dyno'd and it was running lean, as it was a 2002 there was no adjustment for fuel pressure so he gradually bent some spring and re dyno'd and got the fuel pressure up and the mix better. This gave it about 10% more power but it was still low on power and acceleration was painfully slow. One day the fuel pump died and was replaced with totally fixed it. The fuel pressure had been checked by numerous mechanics but always came back fine but obviously wasn't. Hope this helps

Check your fuel pump in the tank, mine was blocked, I fitted a new pump and no more surging.

Check your fuel pump in the tank, I had a really bad surge, I changed the pump and no more surge, worth a try.
