37" mt v's a swerve test

In process of engineering at current and wanting to fit 37's
Engineer has told me he doesn't think 37'x12.5r17 will pass the swerve test, and is recommending 18+inch rims to garantee passing due to side wall height

I don't want to by 17" and fall test only to rebuy in 18's or 20's
Down side is 18 and 20" are grey import only next to no company brings them into Aust (procomp exempt)

Big question has anyone passed a swerve test with 37x12.5r17
Or and 37" tyres
Thanks

might have to ask over on a patrol of land cruiser forum where 37's are more popular

Very nice you are trying to fit them but why don't you go for a 16 inch rim? that would look much nicer in my opinion. But here you can see 17 inch Good Year Wrangler: 38X14.50R17LT

but it will need a lot of cutting and trimming and modification work. even if you only use 4 wheels..

Not sure if he did, or what I'm trying to achieve,
Over in the states d60 axels and 44" are all the rage but not gonna happen here, I'm pushing the limits at 35x12.5r?, so fitting any form of 37's is flat out pushing my luck,
My options in Australia at 17" or 20" rims to stay readly available,
Customs steel rims aren't an issue gecko in Melbourne are $200 each for 17x10 -44
20" I can get just have to import so cost Unknown

Surprised your engineer has let you go as far as saying that you need to do a swerve test. The Hilux diff can not support a 37" tyre legally. Not even patrol diffs can legally support them. Not to mention your brakes will not sufficiently stop them.

Don't have a issue with diff or brakes
Running dba 4000 series rotors and v6 calapers
80 series land cruiser master and booster
Upgraded 60 series rear drums

The brake test I have passed with 33's and 35" tyres, it's an easy test with a meter in car reading g-force when braking,

The test take time but the swerve test is where the $$$ are,
Just on $4000 to have it done

One option I was looking at to make 37" easier to pass was post 05 rear axel with 80 series front
Meanin I can run max wheel offset of p10 rear and -22 front, so p10 all round
Factory off set 1480 with -44 wheels gives me 1580 to the centre of the rim, 1600 late model hilux with p10 wheels is 1580 to the centre of rim

Or I can order longer axels and housing from USA giving me 1600mm with rcv or dirty 30 axel, per 78 hilux front disk brake on rear, and 105series LC front disk brakes on front with trail gear 6 shooter knuckles,

Option 3 Dana 60/70 front rear but would require at least a 40" tyre to have same ground clearance as 37" on 9.5" Toyota's and 35" on hilux 8" centres

Getting 37's engineered is a pain in ass, 33's is easy, 4" bigger tyre 4" lift =6" total lift, $1000 engineers cirt and away you go,
37's will run me into around $5000 in engineers bills and prob 8-10k mods to car,
8" bigger tyre= 4" lift max lift = 2" so glass cut fender (Ivan steward style glass fender and good is what I'll use from states) you can 38's 2" lift and diff pushed forward

Just had my 2008 engineered on 35s, but that was with 80 series front and rear diffs, even 05+ rear diff wont get approved for 35, let alone 37.

I had full 80 series brake upgrade, and using front and rear 80 diffs you can get into -13 or -22 rims for extra width legally.

Passed swerve and brake test with 35x12.5r17, but only just, and thats with king coilovers set stiff to control body roll.

4WD Action mag featured a JK Wrangler with 37s, fully engineered. They reckon it was a bit of a mission get it all set up and done. Passed a swerve test, can't remember off the top of my head the rim size.

With the height of the Lux and the tyres, i feel like you'd need a very good suspension setup before even thinking about it. Brakes would need upgrading as well as the diff ratio.

Yeah, this Jeep was running Teraflex Dana axles and a whole lot of ''keep dreaming'' gear.

There's a white jeep on 37's with custom d60 under it full engineered, but that sponsored by discovery ch Asia
Spoke to them in dec and got into there engineer
They did tell me it cost them 22k drive in drive out with
2 complete new diffs, shafts, suspension, wheels and tyres
And that the diffs were nilly half of the total price

Makes marks portal axles look cheap
