Hey guys,
Has anybody bolted up a surf air box into a 5L-E to fit a second battery under the bonnet. Iv got a TJM airtec snorkel also. Did you have to move anything other than the air box to fit the battery? How did you plumb up the surf air box and plumb it into the snorkel while still fitting the second battery. Also any pics of custom dual battery trays for that spot and any further advice would be awesome.
Thanks in advance fellas.

You can fit twins with stanard air box
You just can't run 2 big batts
My second sits intop of the wheel arch and touches the factory battery so they look like a L

Did you have to move the fuse box then mate? How did you mount the battery there? Got any photos?

Did this to my 5L about 6 years ago. Fitted 2 full size battery's by removing the baffle box silencer and replacing it with tray by outback 4x4. Just had to move power steering reservoir slightly and put a rubber stopper in the hole where the baffle box connects to the intake tube that runs between the air box and into the guard behind the indicator light. I think the instructions said to remove this intake pipe but I kept it so I could install a safari snorkel later on which I did. Just meant that I needed to fiddle around with the tray and use some spacers here and there. I believe the 5l-e has a similar setup so you should be good to do the same

Thanks for your reply Whitebull,
Few questions for you mate, when you removed the baffle box did you get vibration and excessive noise in the cab due to no longer having a baffle box? Did the battery tray mount straight into the guard? Could you grab a photo of how the battery tray sits please mate

As far a noise goes I'd be lying if I said there was no increase in noise but it's nothing too concerning. Without a battery installed you will notice it more. I recon the baffle box actually just absorbs sound vibrating around void, cause earlier models don't have it. Here are some pics - not great but should give you an idea. note: recommend installing central fuse box for all your acc otherwise it will look a bit messy like mine). ImageImageImageImageImage

No worries. I think I got the tray from opposite lock. The spacers I used came off the baffle box. You will need to place a bit of rubber over lower radiator hose to stop it rubbing on the tray. I cut an old radiator hose up and slipped it over with a couple of cable ties. As for the power steering reservoir I just twisted the mount slightly to get the lower hose away from the new tray.
