LN167R over heating

Postby My-Lux on Mon, 22 Jun 2015 8:43 +0000

Hi guys I have a 1999 ln167r, the car has been running like a dream no problems for the short time I have owned it.
Anyway I heard about this new diesel the bp are offering (BP Ultimate diesel) so I filled up half a tank of that what a difference it made responding quicker also not eating as much diesel. I noticed as I was driving my temp gauge was sitting way to high so I pulled over let the car cool down for half an hour and started it again and my temp gauge was sitting on the red square so I babied it home. Coolest was dropped a week ago so I figured it can't be that. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Check your radiator out first. Have you been 4WDing recently in mud? Sometimes that can block up the radiator fins and that'll prevent cool air from passing through.

Why was the coolant dropped a week ago?

Alternatively, grass seeds are really bad for getting stuck in there and as soon as they get wet they expand and get stuck in the fins, blocking the air.

Maybe even double check your coolant level now, and if it looks a bit low it could have had an air bubble trapped in the head-side of the thermostat when the coolant was changed...

A lot of the time, service centres don't get the air out of the cooling system. So, the volume of coolant will be wrong.
Turn the heater onto hot, check your levels in your radiator and your reservoir.
Start the vehicle and fill with the same coolant, as needed, through the reservoir.
Note, the Toyota SLLC coolant, is one of the best coolants, out in the present market.
Penrite is pretty good, as well.
The Roo.
Passing through country and seeing country are two different things.
