04 TD Hilux Exhaust

Postby bms on Fri, 02 Sep 2011 8:12 +0000

Was wondering if anyone can give us some advise on the best size for the exhaust on a 2004 3lt turbo for the young bloke :?
Done a search and heaps comes up for the D4D but can't find anything on the older model.
Have been told to go 2.5" but was wondering whether 3" would be better from the turbo back as the dump pipe off the turbo is sooooo restrictive it's not funny.
Any help appreciated :?

I built a 2.5" straight through rear section for my '04, made a little difference, but as you said, its in the dump pipe.
I don't see why you wouldnt go with a 3" on that, even though its making less power, it is still the same capacity.

Thanks for the replies, thinking 3" would be the way to go after buying a turbo to dump pipe gasket today and there has to be some big gains in doing this I would think as the factory dump pipe looks to have been design by a contortionist.

Depends on the bends and other restrictions in the system eg the muffler itself. I have a sterling which for them the best size creating the most torque was 3in but beaudesert its 2.5in. Just get one thats been developed on a dyno.
Im not stuck..... Im thinking
