altimeter from surf

So I'm thinking I want an altimeter in my rig. Always liked the ones that i usually see in the pajero. Anyone ever installed or know of an install of a Hilux Surf altimeter gauge mounted in a 99-04 'lux?
I'd be deathly afraid to do anything of "permanence" to the dash myself, but still curios if anyone here has done the same...

Looks nice, but no GPS maps for my area (Jamaica)... I'm still interested in the OEM altimeter / inclinometer gauges if anyone else has some input.

Look for a software solution with a Car PC of some sort. GPS provides the altitude feed much more accurately than barometric pressure used in the SURF and the data is included in the NMEA sentence it sends to the PC.

For inclinometer, you need a 3 axis acellerometer.

You may need a Arduino or some sort of embedded controller to parse the data and send it to the PC.

FYI both of the required sensors are in the latest phones and there is software that does what you want for the Iphone.

So Car PC or Iphone and no hacking the dash!
