Do you think a e locker would be strong enough to lock the rear up for a burnout and 1/4 run at willowbank?

they should, i got one on a 2003 turbo diesel hilux. you can drive them in the dry locked if you wanted to. most likely snap an axle before the locker.

The install of the front locker costs more I'm pretty sure, as its a prick to get it out.

The actual lockers are the same price

sorry was wrong for some reason was comparing it to locker + install or locker + compressor price, had it scribbled down on a pad forgot it included the "+" so the superior price seemed super cheap..which it wasn't.

I've never heard of issues except mine. I had a bolt come loose which didn't have lock tight on it from new, caused a few issues but fixed for free otherwise been good. Although the wait on the parts was excessive.

Saying that I'd still go elocker over air locker.

No the Patrol is stock in the driveline department. I'd have an e locker over an auto locker every day.

Ok so just been reading some threads. Correct me if I'm wrong but your LSD is much stronger than hiluxs and running a front lock will give you the ultimate drive? But I think you said one day you barely used your front locker on the lux, I can only afford one at the moment do I do the front or rear?

Yes my LSD is much stronger and works much better than the Toyota LSD, hence why I'd only worry about the front one. If I was doing another Hilux, I'd go the rear first for sure.

Sorry, I'm kinda knew to the new model hilux and all the new fancy gadgets after upgrading from a 92 lux, but can someone tell me what the difference is between the two? From what I've gathered an e-locker acts just like an air locker but is instant as it doesn't have to wait for a compressor. Is that correct?

Jaydo to be honest how instant do you need it. This is my 2nd time around with ARB air lockers and without having tried or seen the E-locker work I can only comment on what I have. 95% of the time you will engage the locker before going into the situation. Don't always think a locker will get you out if you're in the poo. I reckon from activation to lock it takes 2 seconds tops. If driving through a tricky area I will leave the compressor on and then use either or both lockers as needed. Yes there are air hoses that can break and I have had this happen when a stick busted off the rear hose from diff housing but it was an easy fix. On the E-locker there must be wires that can be caught as well as the problem of electric gremlins. Not sure of E-locker price but will you be needing to buy a compressor for tyres as well? Factor that in when comparing the 2. Good luck mate.
Mark ;)

Oh, there is no need for instant or not in regards to how quickly It can lock. I never had any lockers at all on my old hilux, however my dad had them on his patrol. I was always just going to get air lockers when I had the money to throw at them to put on my new hilux, but I hadn't even heard of elockers, only reason I was asking about the differences. As for the compressor, I already have a portable one that I take everywhere.

-edit-

Just been on YouTube having a look at the difference

so just to resurrect this thread - TJM is having a $300 cash back sale on their pro lockers. I went in today and got a quote on a rear locker. To have it all fitted + compressor is approx 2k. I also went into ironman and got quotes off them for their e lockers. The Elockers were 1.9k from ironman fitted. They also sell the one for the front which TJM don't have a front locker for.

Trying not only to decide between which one to go, but whether to get a front or rear now as well.
