Harsh ride

Postby Shovtel on Fri, 27 Nov 2015 10:39 +0000

My dad bought a new 4wd sr single cab turbo diesel ute for the farm last year (2014 plated ute). Its now his 3rd ute.

All his other hilux's have had a bull bar/winch/steel tray but this one has no bull bar and a custom made alloy tray which is beautiful to look at... very well made.

The problem is the ride is now alot more harsh... were putting it down to there being less weight. Around the farm its not that bad but on the road/highway you are bounching around so much you cant even have a drink or smoke a ciggie for fear of getting it all over you. put some weight in and its fine.

He has tried dropping the tyre pressures down below 30psi and its helped...

So, other then getting around with 1/2 ton in the back - does anyone have any ideas? on how to soften up the ride?

suspension sounds like it could be too hard for what its being used for. If he has upgraded the rear springs it could just be that they are simply too heavy for what the car is being used for. In which case, he made need to remove some leaves from the leaf pack.
