$275 for wheel alignment

Postby mrburns on Wed, 14 Oct 2015 10:29 +0000

Hey guys I'm in need of a wheel alignment for my ln167. Being new to 4x4s I did some searching and found a place,so I called to make a booking and was quoted $275 is this the normal price for a wheel alignment. I'm in western Sydney if anyone has other recommendation place let me know.

Cheers Al

watching with interest, sounds like a rip off to me, but I could be wrong.

Last time I had an alignment was on a Pregio van and was about 80 bucks.

Did they stick their head under and spot some worn parts or something?

$275 is way too much. A proper 4 wheel alignment should cost around $130.

Do NOT get your alignment done at a tyre shop. They have usually cheap and outdated aligners and they only spend 5mins on it. I've had many poor alignments and prematurely worn tyres from bad toe/camber wear.

Go to a decent suspension shop where they will give you a detailed print out of the before/after/manufacturer specs. They will take it for a test drive after adjustments to make sure it drives straight and stable.

If they cant adjust something back to manufacturer specs, it usually means something is bent.

No head sticking this was over the phone. I don't want to do any name dropping but they have shops Australia wide, and do trucks as well. When I asked how long it would take I was told 40min.

Are you sure? I had a lift done there recently (less than a month ago) and I was told the car would go to Tyrepower down the road.

My mate was charged $220 for the front for his Jeep Wrangler because it's a solid axle vehicle. Could that be why you were quoted so highly?

I think I know the place you're referring to. I went there once. very expensive, even if they did do a good job. Now I just get Ultimate Suspension to do all my work

Well they charged me for it while I waited and don't recall it being driven away. That was 6 months ago
