Hilux 3.0 Diesel Sports Muffler

Postby dobby10 on Fri, 26 Jun 2015 3:41 +0000

Hi all,

I am looking for an exhaust system to give my lux a better note.
The exhaust shop wants to weld a new muffler on. I don't want any welding because I want to be able to put the stock muffler back on if needed.

I have found this on ebay
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-HILUX ... 5410f97975

Has anyone had any experience with this in particular?
Do you think it will give my hilux a better note?

Thanks In Advance

I can't comment on that exactly, but the Hilux turbo diesel doesn't get overly loud even without a muffler, so if you went with a "sports" muffler I doubt it would be too loud for you, just give it a note more than anything.

Welding is pretty standard with exhausts and it would take sweet f all for a shop to change back to your stock muffler if you changed your mind later on. Heck I had a muffler removed entirely from my last car with straight pipe for about $60

food for thought

Just get an exhaust shop to chop in a hot dog style straight through job. Mines about 200mm diameter x 400mm long on a 3" system with a high flow cat. Gives a nice baritone note. I had a straight through system for while but got sick of the farty sounding 'brap' when you put the foot down.
